Closure of Route 202 in King of Prussia continues until Wednesday morning (at least)
Route 202 in King of Prussia will remain closed until at least Wednesday morning as repairs continue following a water main break.
Officials aim to have one lane open in each direction by the morning rush and two lanes in each direction by noon Wednesday.
The roadwork began after workers at a nearby store reported low water pressure and a sinkhole was discovered beneath the roadway.
The water main has since been fixed, water service restored, and the sinkhole backfilled.
Traffic is being detoured, and the sinkhole occurrence is attributed to limestone erosion exacerbated by recent heavy rainfall.
Both PennDOT and Upper Merion Township lack a proactive approach to preventing sinkholes and can only respond to incidents when they occur.
