Harrington Drive – Orange County Sinkhole
A large sinkhole, measuring 20 to 30 feet across and with a depth of 13 feet, opened in the backyard of a home at the Pine Hills neighborhood at Harrington Drive in Orange County, Florida on March 11, 2018.
According to the Orange County Fire Rescue officials, the affected home has been deemed unsafe, forcing the family of six to leave the area. James Holliday has been living in the house for three years, together with his wife, daughter, and three boys. Officials said the American Red Cross has been asked to help the residents.
Electricity has been cut off to the home and caution tape was placed around the sinkhole.
According to a geo-technical engineer who consults for Orange County, sinkholes open every now and then in Pine Hills, but this sinkhole will not likely to get bigger.
