Manual Cleaning of Sinkhole near Warren County Middle School
City stormwater chief, Lyndon Bussell, said that the sinkhole behind Warren Region Center School needs to be cleared out manually, using a mini-excavator, because of its close proximity to a wetland.
McMinnville Public Works Division representatives will start a cleanup exertion this seven-day stretch of that one and others.
“That one and a couple of other sinkholes in the area are the ending point for stormwater that accumulates over 400 acres which includes the Milner Center, Highway 70S, and North Chancery Street, among others,” said Bussell. “We will clean all of them out and enhance them to help with stormwater issues.”
Flooding of low-lying properties inside the city has been a well-established issue, with inhabitants regularly mentioning help from McMinnville authorities. Clean-up of the sinkholes is among the means right now being taken to lighten stormwater spillover issues.
The sinkhole treatment is scheduled to start Wednesday.
