Sinkhole opens up in St. Joseph – Buchanan County Sinkhole
St. Joseph, Mo. – A sinkhole appeared at the intersection at Grant and Rhudy streets, causing the site to cave in.
According to the water department, the sinkhole was caused by a break in the water main passing underneath. The aging of the street infrastructure and recent weather effects also contributed to the sinkhole.
The hole is about 4 feet deep. It has caused the intersection to be closed for the time being.
