State Road 44 near I-75 in Sumter County closed due to sinkhole
Authorities have closed lanes of State Road 44 near I-75 in Sumter County due to a sinkhole.
The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office announced on Tuesday that the eastbound left lane of State Road 44 and the left turn lane to enter the Pilot Travel Center have been shut down.
The exact size of the sinkhole has not been disclosed.
The sheriff’s office mentioned in a Facebook post that the duration to secure the roadway is uncertain and advised caution while traveling through the affected area.
The Florida Department of Transportation has been informed about the sinkhole.
