Human skulls found in dried-out lake – Leon County Sinkhole
Lake Jackson, Leon County – Skeletal remains of two human skulls were found from Lake Jackson after it dried out as a result of a sinkhole. Lake Jackson is spread over 4,000 acres of land along U.S. Highway 27 north of Tallahassee. The water from the lake drained beneath the ground due to caving in of the lake -bed.
Leon County Sheriff’s office is investigating the incident. The remains have been sent to the office of the medical examiner for forensic investigation. It is still unclear how old the remains are. The skeletal remains are aged and deteriorated, which makes it hard to draw any conclusions.
Leon County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Shade McMillian said, “I call them artifacts because we don’t know if it’s something from way back in the day or the last ten years.”
