Knoxville – Knox County Sinkhole in Tennessee
A large sinkhole formed at U.S. 11 East, Broadway Boulevard near Mossy Creek Road in Jefferson City, Knoxville, Tennessee on August 15, 2020.
EMS Supervisor Melissa Potts Cotter said a car flipped into the sinkhole, though there were no injuries. The vehicle belongs to an employee of a nearby restaurant.
According to the Jefferson City Fire Department, the sinkhole formed on the westbound lane, prompting authorities to shut down East Broadway and during that time, motorists were being detoured onto Chucky Pike. Crews worked on the scene together with the Tennessee Department of Transportation.
