Spring Haven Boulevard – Pasco County Depression in Florida
A massive depression formed on Little Road at Spring Haven Boulevard in Pasco County, Florida on October 5, 2020.
According to the Pasco County Emergency Management team, the hole is around 20 feet wide and with a depth of about 35 feet. Pasco County Emergency Management Director Andrew Fossa said while he’s not considering it as a sinkhole, the depression is still getting bigger. No structural damage was recorded so far, though Spring Haven Drive was shut down for the safety of the residents and local detours were created.
Dr. Lori Collins, co-Director of the Digital Heritage and Humanities Collections at the University of South Florida, assessed the depression and said that they are working with the officials with all the information that they had gathered, and use historical data to create a geographic information system approach to Pasco County.
