KY 52 Scheduled for Closure – Still County Sinkhole
Revenna, Ky. – KY 52 (3rd Street) is scheduled to remain closed for a week as work commences to replace a collapsed drainage structure starting Monday, Nov. 15.
A sinkhole was formed due to the collapsed drainage pipe at milepost 9.673 at the intersection of Poplar Street. KYTC’s Estill County maintenance crew was trying to determine the reason for the sinkhole until they found out that it opened up due to a clay drainage pipe.
Temporary work has been done to keep the road open for a while but a permanent replacement of the drainage pipe is deemed necessary. A whole week is expected to be spent in the repair efforts. The road will be closed for all traffic during the whole week starting Monday, Nov. 15. No detours have been announced but motorists can use other streets like the 4th Street as alternatives.
