Sinkhole in Florida that engulfed a man in 2013, has reopened
A sinkhole in Seffner, Florida, that made national news in 2013 after swallowing a man has reopened for the third time, according to Hillsborough County officials.
The sinkhole, located at 240 Faithway Dr., has prompted engineers to conduct a scientific assessment and a sinkhole remediation contractor to draft a plan.
There is currently no immediate danger to the surrounding area or homes, and residents have been notified that they can safely remain in their homes.
The sinkhole, estimated to be 12 feet by 12 feet, has been closed off to the public and is secured with fencing.
The sinkhole initially appeared in 2013, resulting in a fatality, and was remediated twice before reopening again in 2023.
