A sinkhole opened on the Stetson University campus, behind the DeLand House Museum at 137 W. Michigan Ave. in DeLand, Florida on September 17.
The sinkhole is about 25 feet by 18 feet at the surface, and with a depth of approximately eight to 10 feet. According to the university officials, it opened on a grassy field and does not pose any threat to any other building or property.
According to Stetson spokeswoman Janie Graziani, the sinkhole will be filled once they find out that the area is stable. Students, staff, faculty members, and the general public were asked to avoid the sinkhole, which is surrounded by orange fencing according to this news source.
